Chandigarh, The City Beautiful, is magnetic and attracts people from all parts of the country and the world. Chandigarh is well-planned city and is the capital of both states of Punjab & Haryana. This is the prime example of outstanding planning to design the city making it worth residing and touring around. Carefully designed parks, streets and lined up trees across streets creates a beautifule scene. In other words, it can be said that Chandigarh city of creative people.
The open hand emblem at Sukhna lake. It reads “Chandigarh, The City of Peace. Let’s strive for-Community Harmony,Cultural Diversity, Rejection of Violence, Resolution of Conflict, Reconciliation of Differences,  Freedom of Expression. The Chandigarh has also an institute ‘The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER)’ which was inaugurated by Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1962 and now this hospital  named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963. The Institute was originally under the Government of undivided Punjab. After the reorganization of the state, the administrative control of the institute passed on to the Union Territory of Chandigarh in November 1966.  The Institute became an autonomous body under the Act of Parliament in 1967 functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, with the following mandate. 
·         Provide high quality patient care. 
·         Attain self-sufficiency in postgraduate medical education and to meet the country’s need for highly qualified medical teachers in all medical and surgical fields.
·         Provide educational facilities for the training of personnel in all-important branches of health activity.
·         Undertake basic community based research.
The people comes from the all parts of the country with the hope of their better treatment.
Sukhna Lake is al beautiful lake surrounded by mountains on one side. The moment we enter here, a fleet of colourful boats in seen as if ducks are grown up enough to give the visitors cool water ride`` An exciting view and memorable visit for the crowd. The Panjab University, situated in sector 14 Chandigarh is one of the renowned education centres of north as well as of India.
It is the only city where huge numbers of gardens are build around. Derived its name from Goddess Chandi, Chandigarh offers a good time to relax and visit around. Chandigarh, offers some amazing locations for visitors to visit around like. The Rock Garden of Chandigarh, Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh Rose Garden, Garden of Fragrance, Chandigarh Botanical Garden & Nature Park and many more such places.

. Besides this, there are two historical religious places near the Chandigarh. These places are Gurdwara Nada Sahib & Mansa Devi Mandir.  Gurdwara Nada Sahib & Mansa Devi Mandir are situated in Panchkula District of Haryana State, at a distance of few kilometers from Chandigarh. Lacs of devotees visit these places daily, Sunday, during navratras & fullmoon day (Poornmashi). On the basis of importance of this city, the Akashvani Chandigarh has also produced a programme whose name is ‘Hello City Beautiful’, which became very popular programme.
